The Gann Brothers are so blessed to have Godly parents. Each one of us attribute our early exposure to Christ to them. Today I want to talk about our mothers.
Phil’s mother is Sula Gann. We all know her as “Mama Gann”. I knew her for 15 years before I knew she had the name Sula. Without Mama Gann there would be no Gann Brothers. Gary, Phil, Calvin, and Nina are so blessed to have a humble, Proverbs 31 mother. She is so willing to give of her time to help her family. And you would have to go a long way to find a woman who can cook a better meal than her….I know, because I’ve eaten at her table more than once!
Craig’s mother is Velma Pippin. Mrs. Velma is absolutely full of personality. She enjoys fellowship with God’s people, and she is so proud of her family. All of her children love her and talk about her enduring love for them. She has always been so supportive of Craig in the ministry. I know the people of Port St. Joe, Florida have been blessed by her generosity and kindness. One problem with Mrs. Velma….she tries to buy albums from us. I will say, “Mrs. Velma, just take what you want”. She wants to support us in every kind of way, even if it is buying a CD. The wonderful thing about Mrs. Velma is…..she is always smiling and laughing. The joy of the Lord IS our strength!
My mother is Lynda Peddie. I could talk about her all day and never scratch the surface in sharing what she means to me. She has always been so committed to family. She feels her calling was to take care and meet the needs of my brothers and dad. A real turning point in my life came one night when I heard her calling out my name to God. I walked into our home and saw her in the floor praying for me. What a moving experience. I needed Christ in a real way that night, and it was the prayer of my mother that spurned me on to getting right with God. I honestly don’t know what I would do without her!
Of course, each of our wives are mothers too, and their contribution and influence can not be overshadowed. We’ll be talking about them in later posts this year. Just wanted to introduce each of you to the the fine women who introduced us to the world.
